Exit

Sometimes you don’t need to plug in the light to know it’s time to cut ties. The past tries to adhere itself to you like dust tinged with grease. Best advised not to run current through that.

May I offer you some hot water and Brill-o?

Or would you prefer to walk through the door into the night yourself, since people can take steps, signs stand still and hope to be reread. The door below this exit sign has a metal bolt across and only the staff goes out that way after hours.

The other side of the room is a long counter with stools. Eisenberg’s Sandwich shop makes a decent pastrami.

Two Dimensions

January 3rd, 2010 · He said, She said, Older Essays, Sidewalk Stories

We will be starting a new section on this blog. It’s a visual dialogue using photographs and blurbs to tell stories and ask questions. Kind of like a fireside chat, except in front of your local URL- cuppagemma.

The goal is to tell a story that will take you in and hold your attention in a way that only the words, or only the images cannot. The intersection of the two is what makes it interesting.

We approach this from two different directions as photographer (Chris Smith) and writer (Aileen Gemma Fedullo). This is a collaborative project for us- we both are intrigued with how information can be reassembled in unexpected ways that are like new harmonies.
