There is no hour, as day takes
\nnight with a hard hand twisting
\nlike pipe cleaners in blue on red
\nas the shops stay open intentionally<\/p>\n

Old Navy insists they make it fun again
\nand even a Kmart diagonally from R.H. Macy’s
\nwhich thankfully is closed and kept the
\ncopper, and only movies make kisses atop<\/p>\n

The Empire State sweet because they almost
\ndidn’t happen, tonight it’s just a green cap
\nwith the waft of tourists carrying plastic
\nsacks of chain pizza that is not Ray’s nor<\/p>\n

Any way original as Starbucks pushes too
\nmany corners, so Dunkin’ Donuts has to join
\na whole bunch of others to form one large place
\nwhere only the lost go late at night…<\/p>\n

As luggage wheels in and out and
\neyes look up and whisper in other
\nlanguages and the gifts glitter
\nwith someplace that, this is, sorta<\/p>\n

Supposed to be, and the officers
\nkeep us all in mind and even the
\ncabbies have gone extra polite but
\ndo not break the paced din of the<\/p>\n

Diner guests as we all keep delving
\nour bent forks into this place with
\nsparkles on the street that is more
\nstained with gum and the news wire pulls<\/p>\n

Itself past my eyes in a gallop with
\nmore and more to say, and which end of
\nthe street do they drop the ball from
\nanyway? but please can’t those awful<\/p>\n

Pink party bikes go away and there are
\nlittle drawn cabs with faded silk flowers
\nand the trains, hear them rumble as their
\nblack soot humid smell jumps in beside<\/p>\n

The burned chestnuts and old pretzels and
\nwhere is the good hot dog guy, let’s go get
\nreal knishes down by Cooper, since they
\nknow what to do and never updated to this<\/p>\n

Time that ticks into television bytes
\naching your head more than the
\nfourth day of the sixth cup of coffee
\nEnough. I shall take you somewhere else-<\/p>\n

It’s not a quiet little cafe on a side street
\nsince we agree the Avenues are too grand,
\nnor a perfect little pub with dark walnut
\nwalls and decent bottled ales, it’s another<\/p>\n

Place across the water, where we can watch
\nthe lights first and then sit till we are
\ntired after, we can even smell the sea and
\nthere is wine and some old songs with no dust<\/p>\n

And it only can be found, in a certain
\nnow and again, like rainbows in the Falls,
\nalways flickering between mist and wind,
